Stanmore Insurance, a leading insurance brokerage based in Bolton, is proud to announce its recognition as the winner of the Apprenticeships, Training & Skills Award. This prestigious accolade celebrates businesses committed to fostering workforce development through apprenticeships, training, and skills programs. This award is a testament to Stanmore’s unwavering dedication to nurturing talent, developing future leaders, and creating meaningful opportunities for the younger generation within the region.
Under the visionary leadership of managing director Jackie Hyde, Stanmore Insurance has embraced a forward-thinking approach to workforce development, investing in the next generation of professionals through tailored training and apprenticeship programs. The company has established itself as a beacon of success in bridging the gap between academic education and practical industry skills.
Partnership with the University of Bolton
A cornerstone of Stanmore Insurance’s success lies in its close collaboration with the University of Bolton. This strategic partnership has allowed the company to integrate real-world knowledge with academic learning, empowering students and apprentices to thrive in the insurance industry. Jackie Hyde’s active involvement with the university led to the creation of the Leadership and Empowerment Centre, where she now serves on the advisory board. The Centre’s mission is to mentor and shape future leaders, with Jackie playing a pivotal role in guiding its strategic vision.
Investing in Apprenticeships and Mentorship
Stanmore Insurance’s apprenticeship and training programs offer hands-on experience across various areas of the insurance business. The company currently mentors several apprentices, including three who are working towards roles in account management and claims. These programs have proven mutually beneficial, as apprentices bring fresh ideas and new perspectives that contribute to Stanmore’s ongoing growth and operational efficiency.
Commitment to Leadership Development
Stanmore also places significant emphasis on developing its internal leadership. Three of the company’s senior management team, all under the age of 40, recently graduated from the Aviva Future Leaders Programme, a two-year course focused on key areas such as HR, finance, and management. As a result, one of the company’s rising stars, who started at Stanmore at the age of 19, has been promoted to Associate Director.
Community Engagement and Support for Young Women
Jackie Hyde’s leadership extends beyond Stanmore Insurance. As an ambassador for Girls Out Loud, a community interest company (CIC) that supports teenage girls, she is passionate about empowering young women in the local area. Four members of the Stanmore team have also become ‘Big Sisters’ as part of this initiative, offering mentorship to at-risk girls and providing them with guidance and support.
Leadership in Regional Skills Development
Looking ahead, Stanmore Insurance continues to lead the way in improving regional skills levels. In May, the company will play a key role in an international conference at the new Leadership and Empowerment Centre, bringing together academic and business leaders to share best practices in workforce development. Jackie Hyde will be one of the keynote speakers, further solidifying Stanmore’s reputation as a pioneer in the field.
Commenting on the award, Jackie Hyde said, “We are incredibly honoured to receive this recognition for our commitment to apprenticeships, training, and skills development. At Stanmore, we believe in investing in people and we are proud to see the positive impact this has on our business and the wider community.”
Stanmore Insurance’s dedication to fostering talent, enhancing skills, and supporting the next generation of professionals has not only strengthened its own team but has also made a lasting impact on the local community and the broader insurance industry.
